LA MINA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
From May 29-June 7, 2019, students will travel to La Mina, Dominican Republic where they will work alongside Food for the Hungry (FH) staff to assist in poverty reduction and relief efforts. Specifically, the students will help in a country-specific mission to improve health, education, access to clean water, and infrastructure.
How You Can Help.
Because we believe that our International service-learning opportunities should be available to all students at Messiah University – no matter one’s socio-economic background, we have committed to a group fundraising model. By donating to our project you are helping TWO students at Messiah University participate in a unique, experiential learning opportunity where they can put their faith in action. You won’t only be making an impact in a student’s life, but you will also be impacting the global church.
It costs approximately $2,000 to provide this unique service-learning experience for one Messiah Student. The funds raised will go towards the project fee, travel, food, transportation, and insurance for the respective student. It would be incredible to raise more than our target, as all funds will directly support our student international service-learning teams.
What Others are Saying.
“It is clear that God is at work in the Dominican Republic, especially in the relationships between community members. This community may be poor financially, but they are rich with Godly love. I learned so many things about faith and hope during my time in the DR, but most importantly I learned that God answers prayers – big and small – no matter how long it takes” (Olivia Jimenez, Class of 2020).
