Dr. Layton Shoemaker was a long-time faculty member at Messiah University. In addition, he served as the men's head soccer coach and was its Athletic Director for many years. He had a passion for athletic excellence and utilizing athletics to shape character and Christian faith. His leadership and vision built a strong foundation for the University's athletics program that continues today. Gifts from this fund will support the activities of AROMA. Messiah's AROMA program, founded in 2011, is unique among colleges and universities, and has become a distinctive of the university's athletic experience.
