The Ronald L. and Joyce H. Miller Scholarship
The Ronald L. and Joyce H. Miller Scholarship was established June 2003 by Dr. Ronald ‘61 and Mrs. Joyce (Hilsher) ‘62 Miller.
After attending Messiah College, Dr. Miller completed his B.S. in Music Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He taught instrumental music in the Susquehanna School District before studying musicology at Indiana University in Indiana where he worked under Willi Apel and Hans Tischler and earned a Ph.D. He joined Messiah College Faculty in 1968 where he taught music history, conducted choral ensembles, and served as department chairman. In 2003 he was named Professor Emeritus but continued to teach hymnology part-time. Dr. Miller has written articles for The Hymn Journal of the American Choral Directors Association and Brethren in Christ History and Life.
