Changing Ourselves to Change the World!

Students in the School of the Humanities work not only to understand the world but to change the world for the better through undergraduate research. Led by programs such as the Public Humanities Fellows and our Digital Harrisburg Initiative, our students teach school children to love poetry and history through writing poetry based on research about their neighborhoods, work on undergraduate research projects to better understand the history and culture of our region, collaborate with community members to map the stories of their Harrisburg ancestors, and host programming that invites community members to work with us to deepen our civic engagement and our understanding of one another.

Such work transforms our communities, our relationships, and our students. It exemplifies what it means for Messiah University to be a Christian institution working for the common good with our community neighbors.
